Atlanta GA Plastic SurgeonWith the New Year finally here, many people have set new year’s resolutions that revolve around helping them look and feel their best. While many people will commit to a new year’s resolution, they often do not know where to start. Atlanta Plastic Surgery Specialists can help you begin your journey towards a healthier and more attractive appearance.

Facial chemical peels are a great first step in treating yourself to a procedure because they have immediate results to kick-start your enthusiasm to help you reach your goals.

Chemical peels are non-surgical cosmetic procedures done on the face, neck, or hands. Most people choose to have chemical peels done on the face and neck (called facial chemical peels for this reason), and these are used to:

  • Improve the look and feel of the skin
  • Reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes and mouth
  • Treat wrinkles caused by sun damage and aging
  • Reduce age spots, skin discoloration, and freckles
  • Improve the appearance of mild scars
  • Treat certain types of acne

A facial chemical peel is an outpatient procedure that is done in-office. Your face and neck will be thoroughly cleaned before the procedure so that there is no interference with the chemicals. Once your face is clean and dry, a chemical solution will be applied to the skin. These chemicals create what are known as “controlled wounds,” and new skin will take the place of the skin that eventually peels away. During the procedure, you will feel a burning and/or stinging sensation, but our professional aestheticians will put cool compresses on your skin to ease any discomfort.

After the procedure you skin will begin to peel within a few days, revealing new skin that is vibrant and younger looking. It is incredibly important that you wear a good sunscreen every day with an SPF of 30 or higher.
