Tummy Tuck and Liposuction Combination

20th February 2014

In the past, surgeons often advised against combining multiple procedures at the same time. However, new evidence suggests that combining a liposuction and tummy tuck into one comprehensive experience can reduce surgical trauma and provide an excellent outcome. The chances for complication are also very low, making the combination an attractive option for many men and women.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) recently published the results of their research on the matter. A large number of patient experiences and results were tracked for a period of more than five years in order to complete the study.

The combined liposuction and tummy tuck procedure has been named a lipoabdominoplasty. In the cases studied for this research, patients first went through ultrasonic liposuction to remove excess fat from the abdomen and side areas around the belly. Next, a tummy tuck procedure was performed, during which excess tissue and loose skin was eliminated.

By adopting innovative preventive measures, such as avoiding traditional electrodissection and using ultrasound technology for shorter periods, surgeons can reduce the risk of complications for their patients. Recovery time can even be reduced by using a modified form of general anesthesia and avoiding blood-thinning medications.

This research showcases important information that supports the idea of a combined lipoabdominoplasty as a fitting solution for those who are looking for dramatic improvement in the shape and firmness of their midsection. Consult with your doctor to learn more about its benefits and if it would be right for you.
