Chemical Peels

One of the least invasive cosmetic procedures available is a chemical peel. A chemical peel is used to remove dead skin and wrinkles to improve the structure, texture, and appearance of the skin. Using one of our specially formulated chemical solutions, Dr. Jones will delicately and skillfully burn off the upper layer of troublesome skin. By removing damaged or dead skin cells, healthy, new, young cells are stimulated to grow.

With more than 20 years of extensive experience, Dr. Mark Mitchell Jones will meticulously control the depth of the burn and the strength and concentration of the chemical solution. To make our patients completely comfortable before the procedure, a local anesthetic cream is applied. Depending on the type of peel used and the extent of the damage to the cells of a person’s face, the treatment may last from 30 to 90 minutes. Multiple treatments may be recommended to get the full benefits of the peel. Side effects include redness and peeling that should go away in about a week.

Chemical peels are categorized as light, medium, and deep. At each level, the skin is treated with a special formula to best meet the skin’s specific needs.

Light

The mildest peels work on the outermost layers of the skin to balance skin tone.

Medium

Acne scars, fine wrinkles, and pigmentation are addressed with a medium-grade peel.

Deep

Sun damage, age spots, discoloration, and wrinkles are targeted with a deep peel.

We offer a variety of peels to give you a fresh, youthful appearance. Line depth is removed, skin tone is made even, scarring from acne is reduced, and texture is improved. To prepare for your procedure, Dr. Jones will meet with you to look at your skin, answer all of your questions, and determine if a chemical peel is the right treatment for you. After your consultation, a chemical blend will be developed that is individualized to meet your specific skin care needs. At Atlanta Plastic Surgery Specialists, you can expect elegant results with a custom chemical peel.
